Antique Caproni Plaster Bust of Hermes
This 19th century plaster casting of the head of Hermes is from the Hellenic era marble sculpture of Hermes holding the baby god Dionysus. On the underside, imbedded in the plaster is the small oval plate identifying the casting as from the Caproni company of Boston who made high quality castings of famous artworks in the 19th century for use by museums and art schools.
